Porsche 992 GT3 in Python Green Cinematic Video on the Streets of Georgia

The Porsche 992 GT3 has been one of the most amazing Project Vehicles we have ever done. Originally delivered in October 2021 from our friends at Chandler Porsche, this was one of the first GT3 cars to land in the USA. After an amazing 2 years of road rallies, mods, and fun, we sold this vehicle which now calls Georgia home. Still making loud noises with the Armytrix titanium exhaust and VR Tuned ECU Flash, the Verus aero kit and Fabspeed wing risers never looked so good in its new environment. Still having the awesome VR Forged x Dymag wheels, the new owner wanted to do some proper tracking time with the GT3. For added safety he installed a Competition Motorsport bolt-in roll bar in paint matched Python Green. He also had the OEM wheels refinished in Aurum Gold color like the factory and set out to make a cool video with Schrenk Media. If you want to hear a wicked flyby at the track, SCROLL to the bottom of this post. Enjoy this short film and keep tuned into the Vivid Racing Blog on more updates!

Ethan Nell’s Porsche Cayman GT4 with VR Forged Wheels and Armytrix Exhaust

If you are in the market to modify your Porsche 981 Cayman GT4, you’ve opened the right article. This Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 upgrade recommendation is inspired by professional freeride mountain bike rider, Ethan Nell, who is an incredible athlete known for pushing limits and having a timeless style. Not familiar with this legend? Check his Redbull Rampage run below. It doesn’t come as a surprise that he also owns one of the finest Porsches on the market. In typical Freeride fashion, Ethan is evolving his 918 into an aggressive machine that not only sounds but looks the part. The 981 Cayman is described by many enthusiasts as a very outstanding vehicle, the Cayman has features that set it apart from other Porsche models, such as better weight distribution, lightweight chassis, and more. This coupe has 385 horsepower, and it runs at 183 mph, and we have felt and seen the power and speed of this ride when our client Ethan Nell did his recent wheel and exhaust upgrade.

Ethan’s Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 was perfectly fitted with VR Forged’s D03-R Wheel and ARMYTRIX Valvetronic Exhaust System. The wheels are affordably available in or shop for $3,300. The D03-R Wheels have a similar design to VR Forged’s D03 but the D03-R comes with a very motorsports-inspired ring which is very stylish ad visually stunning. Incredibly strong, this wheel is available in a Gloss Black finish and it is the perfect match for Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 (using 14mm spacer and 45mm shank lug bolts), Porsche 991 Carrera Narrowbody, Porsche 997 | 997.2 Carrera Narrowbody, Porsche 997 | 997.2 GT3 Narrowbody, and any “tuner” style vehicle.

This wheel’s unique design will enhance your car’s handling and braking power, and on top of that give you a visually stunning exterior that will match your car’s finish. The front wheels are 20×8.5 +50mm 5×130, and the rear wheels are 20×11 +60mm 5×130, and you can buy them by clicking the blue button below.

To get the powerful and sporty sound heard in the video above, Ethan’s coupe had an exhaust system modification. Not just any exhaust, ARMYTRIX Super Sport Stainless Steel Exhaust System which is available in our shop for $3,330! This system is guaranteed to increase power, reduce weight, and improve sound. Let’s talk about sound improvement, shall we? This precision-made performance system delivers more power, especially in the low and mid rev range, the effect on the sound is incredibly significant, adding a deep resonant sporty sound, but at the same time neutralizing the annoying frequencies in the most critical rpm range.

ARMYTRIX exhaust systems differ from other brands’ exhaust systems with their unique “Throttle Pedal Sensor and Engine RPM Signal Auto Functions”. Through this system, ARMYTRIX offers car owners a better launch-start without losing backpressure by automatically closing the valves at low rpm. When your car is driving at high speeds, the valves will automatically open to increase airflow for better performance (hp & torque gained) and sound. Made to perfectly fit the Porsche 981 Boxster 2013-2016, and Porsche 981 Cayman 2013-2016, this system delivers incredible race sound and performance gains.

Video: Porsche 981 Cayman S Gets Armytrix Valvetronic Exhaust System

The Porsche 981 is the internal designation given to the third-generation Boxster and second-generation Cayman models. The Porsche 981 Cayman was, and still remains, a benchmark car for the German marque. And when it first arrived on the scene in 2012, the 981 Cayman was pretty close to stepping on the toes of the highly coveted 911. The second gen brought with it bigger gains in space, refinement, and equipment with a more supple and fun-to-drive chassis. At the heart and soul of the 981 Cayman was the flat-six engine, which gave up a little performance compared to the 911, but did not lose out much when it came to responsiveness, sound, and the overall feel-good factor. And at its pretty price point, you really could not go wrong with the 981 Cayman. That being said, we had the opportunity to take one customer’s 981 Cayman S to the next level with a brand-new Valvetronic exhaust from Armytrix and our very own VR Tuned ECU flash tune to go with it.

The Porsche 981 Cayman S is a remarkable car to both daily drive and hit the canyons with, and this Arizona customer was looking to add a bit of spice to the mid-engined sports coupe. In the video below, you will see us install the famed Armytrix Valvetronic Exhaust System and then tune and dyno it to show off just how good the Cayman S can get! The Armytrix Super Sport Stainless Steel Exhaust will not only enhance the Porsche 981 Cayman aesthetically and tonally, but it will also help increase power, reduce weight, and deliver the ultimate versatility. Now, this customer can enjoy an aggressive exhaust and a more comfortable tone at just the push of a button. In the following clip, we also show you how to control the valves via the included remote as well as on the mobile app.

The Armytrix precision-made performance system delivers more power, especially in the low and mid rev range. The effect on the sound is significant, adding a deep resonant sporty sound, and simultaneously neutralizing annoying frequencies in the most critical rpm range. With this system, Armytrix also offers owners a better launch start without losing backpressure by automatically closing the valves at low RPMs. When the car is driving at high speeds, the valves will automatically open to increase airflow for enhanced performance, power, and sound. This customer can also set their own timing for the valves to open and close by engine rpm or by how deep they push the gas pedal. It’s safe to say that with this exhaust upgrade, the owner of this Porsche 981 Cayman S is going to enjoy the car on a whole other level.

To further enhance the power gains added by the new Armytrix system, we installed a Porsche 981 Cayman 3.4L DFI ECU Flash by VR Tuned on this car. This tune dramatically changes the way a vehicle drives with proven increases of about 15 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque. With VR’s Stage 1 calibration, we can change the way the Porsche’s torque comes on, to give owners better mid-range pull and improve the top-end all the way to the red line. Furthermore, the powerband will come on sooner and the throttle pedal will feel more responsive. With the VR Tuned ECU upgrade for the Porsche 981 Cayman 3.4L, your car will get a full remapping throughout the entire power curve for a difference you can feel and see! It truly is a must-have upgrade for the 981 Cayman S, especially after doing any other type of performance mods like an upgraded exhaust system.

We Made the Porsche GT3 Sound Incredible! Armytrix Valvetronic Exhaust Installed!

As you probably already know, Porsche builds some of the best sports cars in the world. The Porsche 911, specifically, is one of the most iconic cars of all time. Near the top of the 911 hierarchy, the GT3 and GT3RS offer performance to take on some of the best supercars in the world.

Porsche worked hard to give the GT3 and GT3RS insane levels of performance, but it still had to be a comfortable road car. This need for comfort forced Porsche to use very quiet exhaust systems on the GT3 and GT3RS.

As enthusiasts, we all want our cars to sound as awesome as they look. Luckily for 991 GT3 owners, there are lots of awesome options for aftermarket exhaust systems. This 991 GT3 came to the Vivid Racing shop for a VR Tuned ECU flash and an Armytrix Valvetronic exhaust.

Why Choose Armytrix?

What makes the Armytrix exhaust unique, is the Valvetronic system. The Valvetronic system allows you to switch between being quiet and being loud with the push of a button via the included remote or through the smartphone application; this works by tapping into a vacuum source on your engine and connecting it to the control module.

This OBDII module tells the exhaust valve module to allow the engine vacuum to open or close the exhaust valve. You can also set the exhaust valve module to an automatic mode which will open/close the exhaust valve based on predetermined RPM range or throttle position. For the 991 GT3, this means you can keep your car quiet in the neighborhood, but open the valves and let it scream on the open road!

The Result

After installation, we took this 991 GT3 out on the road to test the exhaust. Thanks to the Valvetronic feature, we could keep the GT3 quiet in town, but once we got out to the open road, we let it sing. We left the catalytic converters in place, since this is a road car and needs to abide with the law. Check out the full video below!

Video: 2018 991.2 Carrera S Spitting Flames with Armytrix Exhaust

As Porsche moves towards turbocharged engines across their lineup of vehicles, including their coveted 911, a lot of enthusiasts were worried that these new Porsches would sound terrible compared to the old naturally aspirated Porsches. Although there may be some people out there who refuse to think turbocharged engines sound good, most of us have accepted this new turbocharged sound from Porsche and have learned to love it. Straight from the factory, the Carrera sounds pretty good, but it’s on the quiet side. The problem with many aftermarket exhausts is finding a middle ground between the exhaust being too loud and too quiet. This is where the Armytrix Valvetronic exhaust comes in, which allows you to change the volume on the fly.

Our Valvetronic system works by using a valve to direct the exhaust gases through a muffler or to bypass the muffler. With the valves closed, your Carrera with still be relatively quiet, but with the valves opened it turns in an absolute monster. On top of the awesome sound under loud, while engine braking these new Carrera’s love to pop and spit flames. Check out the quick dyno run below showing off this exhaust!
